Read This Before You Wash It

Heavyweight cotton doesn’t need constant washing. You don’t have to throw it in the machine after every wear.

For small spots, use a damp cloth with a little mild detergent and press gently. For a full wash, turn it inside out, zip it up, snap the buttons. Cold water, gentle cycle. Nothing above 30 degrees.

No bleach. No dryer. Those are the two rules. A dryer will break down the cotton fibers, make the fabric stiff and brittle, and possibly shrink the embroidery.

Hang it or lay it flat to dry somewhere with air moving. Keep it out of direct sun. Black cotton goes gray under too much sunlight, and you don’t want that. Take it out of the machine right when it’s done. Don’t let it sit in a pile.

Wash it alone or with other darks the first few times. Black sheds a little dye at first. That’s normal. Don’t mix it with whites.
