Washing and Drying Indigo Denim (Don’t Skip This)

Indigo bleeds. That’s the first thing you need to know. Wash these alone or with other dark denim the first few times. Not with whites. Not with light colors. Not even with that gray tee you don’t care about.

Turn them inside out. Cold water. Gentle cycle. Mild detergent. No bleach. Bleach kills indigo and weakens cotton.

Do not tumble dry. Heat shrinks denim and cracks the stitching. Hang them or lay them flat somewhere with airflow. Keep them out of direct sun. Indigo fades unevenly under strong light.

You don’t need to wash these often. Spot clean when you can. A damp cloth handles most things. When they do need a full wash, expect some indigo loss. That’s normal. That’s the denim doing what denim does.

Iron on low if you must. Or don’t. Wrinkles on wide denim look fine.
