Human Made Henley Yellow Neck Shirt

I work at Human Made. We make clothes in Tokyo. Been doing it since 2016.

This is the Henley Yellow Neck Shirt. Let me tell you what it is and what it isn’t.

What it is

Cotton thermal. Textured, not smooth like a regular tee. You’ll feel the grain. Three buttons at the neck, same color as the body. Small Heart Logo embroidered on the chest. That’s the whole design.

The yellow is muted. Not school bus yellow. Not lemon. More like something faded that never actually faded. If you’re worried it’s too loud, it isn’t.

Fit is standard. Not slim, not oversized. If you wear a medium in our Human Made T shirt, get a medium here.

What it isn’t

It’s not a summer shirt. The fabric has weight. July in Texas? Wear something else.

It’s not going to stay bright forever if you treat it badly. More on that below.

It’s not loud. Nobody’s going to stop you on the street. That’s on purpose.

Wearing it

Button all three and you look stiff. Unbutton all three and you look like you gave up. Two buttons done, one open. That’s it.

Light wash jeans, white sneakers. Done. Grey chinos work too. Olive works. Black pants work but it gets a little heavy.

Cold out? Human Made jacket over the top. The yellow shows at the collar. Or a hoodie underneath — the henley neckline sits above it and you get some layering without trying hard.

The 6PANEL LINEN CAP in black goes fine with this. Black cap, yellow shirt, denim. Nothing complicated.

If you’re into the collab stuff, the CPFM We’re Good! Cherry Hoodie is a different thing entirely, but people who buy one usually end up looking at the other. Same streetwear world.

Washing it (read this part)

Yellow shows mistakes. Dark colors hide them. So:

Turn it inside out. Button the buttons. Cold water. Gentle cycle if you’re using a machine, or just wash it by hand.

No bleach. No fabric softener. Softener sits on the fabric and kills the texture — you’ll feel the difference after two or three washes.

Dry it in the shade. Sun fades yellow fast. Faster than you’d expect. If you use a dryer, low heat, pull it out while it’s still a little damp.

Iron inside out on low if you need to. Don’t put the iron on the embroidery. Don’t put it on the buttons.

Fold it. Don’t hang it. Heavy cotton stretches at the shoulders when it hangs for months.

Questions people ask us

Does the yellow look weird in person?

No. It’s duller than it looks in photos. Photos make it brighter.

Is it true to size?

Yes. Same as our other tops.

Can I wear it in summer?

You can. You won’t enjoy it.

Will it shrink?

Cold water, no dryer — no. Hot water and a dryer — yes, like any cotton.

What’s different from the navy one?

Color. That’s it. Same shirt.

Where’s it made?

Japan. Everything we make is made in Japan.
